Michael's brief to Saywell
Margaret and David have both emailed asking about moving to cash after the AI bubble headlines. No change for either. Neither of them needs to sell anything. Draft my replies.
To: Margaret Ellison · You don’t need to sell anything
Steady and reassuring
Reassurance first
Hi Margaret, It’s good to hear from you. A question like this deserves to be taken seriously, and I’m glad you asked. The most important thing first: your income for the next three years is already set aside, in steady investments that don’t depend on the stock market. So I’m not recommending any change. We talked about this when we set the plan up. Markets fall, and we made sure a fall would not affect your income. Your investments are spread across far more than the technology companies in the news. I’ll call you Thursday so we can talk it through properly. You’re on track, Margaret, and my job is to keep it that way. Michael
To: David Okafor · Cash question: my recommendation and the reasoning
Analytical and direct
Reasoning first
Hi David, Short answer: no, I don’t recommend moving to cash. Here’s the reasoning. Your concern is legitimate. AI valuations are stretched and index concentration is real. But neither tells us when a decline starts. Moving to cash trades one known risk for two unknowns: when to get out, and when to get back in. Your investments are spread well beyond US mega-cap tech, and your rebalancing bands exist for exactly this: if concentration pushes a holding outside its agreed range, we trim it. That’s a rule, not a judgment call made under pressure. I’ll send your current allocation against its target ranges so you can run the analysis yourself. The risk you’re pointing at is real. Cash just isn’t the right tool for it. Michael
Same question. Same recommendation. Two different emails. Both sound like Michael.

Generic AI writes average emails.
Good advisors make judgment calls.

How can I say this better?
Should I lead with reassurance, or get straight to the point?
Should I explain more, or less?
Should I challenge them, or encourage them?
Should I send an email, or pick up the phone?

Some advisors try generic AI tools like ChatGPT. They type in the situation, ask it to make the email warmer, or shorter, or more professional. What comes back doesn’t sound like them. It’s too enthusiastic, full of words they’d never use, or it just reads like a robot wrote it. So they end up rewriting it anyway. And then there’s the quiet discomfort about where a client’s details just went, and what the AI company will do with them. The client’s name. What they hold. What they are worried about. Typed into a personal account where, unless someone has changed a setting, those conversations may be used to train the model.

The judgment calls you’re making, about this client, this situation, this wording, are the real work. They’re what experienced advisors do every day.

Because your clients chose you. Not ChatGPT.

How Saywell works.

1

Saywell learns to write like you.

Upload a few de-identified client emails. Saywell learns how you naturally write, so every draft sounds like you. Sounds like you. On every draft.

2

Saywell gets to know your client.

Two ways. Answer a few short questions about the client yourself. Or send them a short quiz. Saywell prepares the invitation for you, and adjusts every draft to that client's preferences.

3

Tell Saywell about the moment.

The relationship, what happened, and what needs to happen next. That's the whole brief. No prompt writing.

4

Review your draft in seconds.

Saywell drafts the email or text, written to sound like you, suit this client, and achieve what you need. Ready for you to review or adjust. Nothing is ever sent without you.

Review. Adjust. Send. You have full control over every email before it goes anywhere. Starting with a draft instead of a blank page.

Watch those four steps happen, start to Send.

Built for advisors. Private by design.

Saywell was built for people who carry confidentiality obligations, and designed around the standard their clients trust them to keep.

Saywell drafts client emails and texts. Advisors review, adjust and send them. The responsibility stays where it’s always been.

One plan. Every conversation.
